Women’s Salon: “She” Has Arrived—The Collision of Art and Female Power
"Art is a form of challenge—a dialogue that provokes danger."
— Cate Blanchett
In the world of art, creation is not only an emotional outlet and an expression of individuality but also a powerful tool for artists to resist and drive social change. For female artists in particular, art has become an essential medium for advocating gender equality and women's rights.
Feminism has come a long way, yet female artists remain underrepresented.
From the 19th-century concept of the "New Woman" in Cassatt's works to the 20th-century feminist art movement and "Guerrilla Girls," female artists have continuously used their senses, reflections, and sculptural expressions to reveal and critique gender issues, calling for societal attention and change.
However, the challenges female artists face extend far beyond the act of creation itself.
Whether in the traditional art market or on the career development path, they encounter inequality, bias, and even invisible gender barriers. So, how can female artists break through these challenges? How can their works spark deep reflections on female empowerment and gender equality?
We have invited outstanding female artists and professionals from various fields to share their insights on how artistic creation can break barriers and influence the world. We aim to help more female artists make their voices heard and exert their influence in a male-dominated social framework.
Let’s step into their creative journeys together and explore how the power of art can transcend gender and drive meaningful social transformation.

Guest Speakers
Yuelun Gong
Yuelun is a young artist from Kunming. She primarily focuses on screen printing and integrates mixed media into her creative process, allowing emotions and environmental influences to shape her artistic journey.
Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese color palettes and ethnic patterns, she explores themes of gender and equality, particularly from a female perspective. Utilizing the expressive power of screen printing, she employs gradual, repetitive, and abstract techniques to examine the ubiquitous presence of gender and sexuality in daily life. Her works often respond to contemporary social issues, such as the lack of sex education, aiming to promote self-acceptance and challenge cultural norms.
Danyang Sun
Danyang Sun is an artist, an arts educator, and the founder of an art education brand. She specializes in artistic creation, curatorial projects, and art education for children and teenagers.
Her works revolve around themes of female identity, nature, and cross-cultural narratives, exploring the relationships between individuals and their environments. As an art educator, she is committed to advancing art education and developing innovative learning experiences. After relocating to the United States, her artistic vision has expanded to focus on women's experiences and cross-cultural expressions, reflecting on how art can help reshape and redefine self-identity.
Sigrid Qian
Sigrid is a resident artist and illustrator based in Los Angeles. Her work explores memory and cultural identity, transforming everyday moments into reflections on personal and collective history. She often chooses fabrics like silk and European lace in her artwork, as they embody the delicate yet resilient essence of femininity.
Her creative inspiration comes from quiet moments in daily life—the remnants of dinner after a meal, sunlight filtering through windows, the shadows of a relaxed figure, and a cat basking in the light. These ordinary elements serve as a poetic medium to evoke raw emotions and engage viewers in their own memories and experiences.
